MARITIME & TECHNOLOGY

The maritime sector is the most important economic sector of the City driven by the Port of Gdynia – one of the largest transshipment ports in the Baltic Sea. It specializes in handling containers and also has a passenger ferry transport – daily Stena Line routes and a berth for cruise ships. The Port of Gdynia achieved the highest dynamics of transshipment growth in Poland. Compared to the first half of 2020, there was an increase by 11.8% – from 12.03 million tons to 13.44 million tons. The Port of Gdynia was the one that recorded the lowest decline caused by the inhibition of trade in the first months of the lockdown.

I’m really satisfied with the cooperation with this company!
Why Gdynia? Just like every company, we have established what conditions should be met by the new location. We took into account the availability of public transport (including “new” means of transport such as bicycles or scooters), car transport, business environment and additional services (restaurants, clinics, shops), that our team members can use when visiting the office. Additionally, we took into account the “general feeling” about the location. We wanted a neat and intimate place, as well as a spacious, bright office space. Gdynia fits our criteria well, and more precisely the offices in its business center at ul. Łużycka. This place meets our transport assumptions, we have access to the SKM and PKM lines, but also quick access to the Tricity beltway. The availability of parking spaces is also important to us. The nearby shopping center with an extensive gastronomic zone and the proximity of the Medicover unit also had a positive effect. Additionally, there is the sea nearby! Why Gdynia? LOGISTICS (TSL)

TSL is a sector supporting the maritime industry. Nearly 1,600 companies operate in Gdynia and take up 13% of the rented office space. For 25 years, Gdynia has been the headquarter of the Polish Chamber of Forwarding and Logistics, supporting TSL. The development of the industry is the result of being a node of the core network of the Baltic Adriatic corridor belonging to the TEN-T network. Development follows increased demand for storage and maneuvering yards, which translates into the expansion of the port’s borders, the so-called Logistic Valley (260 ha).

IT

The IT sector is a dynamically developing part of the city’s economy. Together with the Tri-City, it ranks 4th in Poland in terms of the number of centers, where approx. 30 thousand people work. IT and R&D dominate in Gdynia. Among others, Asseco Data System, Refinitiv, DNV GL, have their headquarters or centers here. Gdynia’s business landscape is also filled with many smaller but innovative businesses. For example, the Polish branch of Amazon origins from a start-up Ivona Software that developed innovative text to speech software in Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia.
