The maritime sector is the most important economic sector of the City driven by the Port of Gdynia – one of the largest transshipment ports in the Baltic Sea. It specializes in handling containers and also has a passenger ferry transport – daily Stena Line routes and a berth for cruise ships. The Port of Gdynia achieved the highest dynamics of transshipment growth in Poland. Compared to the first half of 2020, there was an increase by 11.8% – from 12.03 million tons to 13.44 million tons. The Port of Gdynia was the one that recorded the lowest decline caused by the inhibition of trade in the first months of the lockdown.
